Dear Parents and Students,
April is here and already we are into the 4th Quarter. By
the time you read this, your child will have gone through
the arduous Terra Nova Battery of Tests. Our students always
do extremely well and we hope this year is no different.
With Terra Nova testing done, we now prepare for the Holiest
time of the season as we get ready for Holy Week and the
celebration of our Risen Lord. During Holy Week this year
(see notice below) , Mr. Cloutier of the the Theology
Department will perform, on Holy Thursday, his one act play
"Fr. Francis". All students' parents, family and friends are
invited to attend. the performance will begin at 1PM in the
gym. NC"s Wildcat Theatre will be presenting "Godspell Jr."
this upcoming weekend. Again we encourage all parents,
familiy members and friends to attend this performance. Our
student players have been working diligently for the past
few months to make this show the best ever. We especially
invite our incoming 7th graders and their families to this
special event.
From the Theology Dept.:
On Holy Thursday, April 9, Mr. Tom Cloutier, S.F.O., will
premier his original one-man play, Father Francis here at
NCRJH at 1 P.M. in our gym.
Father Francis takes place in Assisi before the dedication
of the basilica of St. Francis. As the pilgrims (the
audience) wait for mass to begin, Bro. Leo, Francis'
companion, relates the life story of his friend and
spiritual father.
Allow the story and message of St. Francis of Assisi to
inspire you as the Easter Triduum begins by joining us for
Father Francis.
Also, we will be hosting a guest speaker for the Eighth
Grade April 8th at 9AM. Next Wednesday, April 8th we will be
having Mrs. Shauna Amick speak to our 8th grade students
about chastity. Shauna has a Masters in Education. Her
website, www.yourwatermark.org, states, "She is a speaker,
writer, and Bible teacher who has a passion for seeing
people of all ages and circumstances go deeper with God. She
delivers powerful and practical presentations by connecting
God's perfect Word to today's culture through first- hand
testimonies and humor." All parents are invited. Please do
not miss this opportunity to listen to this very important
bible- based presentation! If you have any questions or
concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. McFadden at
gmcfadden@.ncrjhs.org.

for each test. Our first place winners were Chris Block,
Alison Hoffer and Jennifer Dai. In second place were Greg
Zoda, Greg McCutcheon, Brian Wells, Sarah Swallow, Shivani

were Tomas Stuopis, Troy Nikander, Alison Hebert, Yiran
Buckley, Lucas Lansing, Michael Raposo, Stacie Cornell, Ted

has top 10 school results nationally in 2 categories
(Algebra 1 and Prealgebra) and we have many individual
students in top 10 national positions as well. We are so
proud of all our students who participated and, once again,
the results were outstanding.
Student Spotlight:
Nashua Catholic Team
Earns Kudos: The NCRJHS DI Team successfully
competed in the Destination Imagination State Tournament
this past Saturday in Kingston, NH. Our two year old DI Team
came in 1st place in the Instant Challenge and 4th place in
the overall central challenge "Private DI" at the Middle
School Level. The Instant Challenge is one of the most
demanding aspects of the competition and requires rapid
problem solving skills, great teamwork, and a strong ability
to think "outside of the box". The "Private DI" challenge
was one of eight central challenges in the program and
focused on improvisation using research about famous
detectives and a variety of film genres. The team did a
great job representing our school at the State Tournament in
this difficult challenge. Congratulations to the DI Team for
their outstanding accomplishment. Students representing
Nashua Catholic were: Steven Canova, Brandon Nguyen, Justin
Chan, Anji Radakrishnan, Shivani Shrestha, as well as Rishi
Kachrani (IJS), and Katie Brink (IJS).
Silent Auction Thank Yous:
Through your incredible generosity this year's auction that
accompanied our Spring Time in Paris fashion show garnered
more than last year's total by more than $500. WOW, in this
economy this truly reflects our community's commitment to
this school and your willingness to support our endeavors.
Thanks to everyone who contributed cash, baskets,
certificates, tickets or who bid and attended this great
evening - we could never have done this without your help.
We are truly blessed to all be sharing time together in
support of this community and these terrific young men and
women. Thank you one and all!
Athletic Dept News:
Wrapping up our winter season here, the Cheerleading squad
took First Place in the NH State CYO Cheerleading
Competition, Grammar School Elite Division. They were also
recipients of The Terry Root Award of Excellence, for most
points scored at the competition.
The Varsity Girls Basketball team headed down to Waterbury
CT. for the 51st Annual CYO Regional Basketball Tournament.
The girls won their first game, a hard fought overtime win.
The semi-final game was a tough loss. The first game took a
lot of effort and the girls gave a great effort trying to
over come a short rest period. All in all, the girls had a
great weekend and an outstanding season.
Now on to our spring teams. We've been very fortunate so
far, the teams were able to begin practicing outside. Check
the school web site, for team schedules; we hope to have the
schedules posted by the end of the week.
Development News:
Fashion show update. We want to once again say 'Thank you'
to all those who made this years event another huge success!
It bears repeating, our committee chairs, the dressing room
help, the silent auction folks, the wonderful parents who
made the room look spectacular (and those who put it back
together again) and especially to our event chairperson,
Christine Lachuisa. Our net proceeds from the event were
over $20,000.
The SmartBoard purchase process had begun. Mr. B, Mr. Knepp
and Mr. Kelleher recently visited Trinity HS to view, first
hand, these new technology tools in action. If anyone has
contacts in the community that have funds for classroom
technology or curriculum upgrades, please alert Mr. B or Mr.
Kelleher. Our goal is to have at least one board on each
floor (we have 4 floors) and to possibly have a second one
for the math and language departments, very ambitious but
very attainable with your help.
