Dec 09, 2008 Development News
Thank you to all the moms and sons who participated in
our annual Mother/Son Glow Bowling. We had a blast.
Special thanks to Kristin Block for making this all
happen. We appreciate the help!
Dads your time is coming up soon; save Saturday, January
24th for our Annual Father/Daughter Dance.
Fashion Show Update Mark your calendars, Friday,
March 20th. Great way to begin Spring! We are now
accepting ads for the upcoming annual fashion show. If
you own a business or know of one that would be
interesting in taking an ad you can contact Mr B (rbsnlt@ncrjhs.org)
or Mrs. Mack (smack@ncrjhs.org) or call the school
882.7011. We have everything from ¼ page to full page
ads. We even have a Patron Line if a family would like
to send well wishes!
We will also be conducting a 'Front Cover Design
Contest', where we ask the student to design the
front cover to this year's program book. This year's
theme is Paris in the Springtime.
Athletic News
Thank you to all the Fall Sport parents for all your
efforts car pooling the teams to our 'Home Games'. We
also want to extend a thank you to all the parents who
took some wonderful photos of our athletes.
The winter sports season opened up last week. The
varsity girls and JV boys won their season openers. The
varsity boys and JV girls look to even up their record
this week. We have home games most Mondays and
Thursdays, either the JV or Varsity. Please encourage
your son or daughter to attend and show support for
their class mates. The girls play first on Mondays and
the boys play first on Thursdays.
The wrestling team opened up last week with a match
against new-comer Litchfield Middle School. The team has
over 30 wrestlers this year, most since we started the
program 6 years ago! We are very proud of our team and
the coaches who all make this happen. Mark your
calendar, Friday, January 9th we have our annual quad
meet with Milford MS, Hollis Brookline MS and Keene MS.
Matches begin at 3:30.
Intramurals
We are going to try something new here at NC, a
Bowling Club/League. We have reserved time on
Wednesdays at Merrimack Ten Pin. This will run for 10
weeks, beginning when we come back from Christmas break,
January 7th. It will conveniently run up to the start of
Spring Sports. Cost to participate is $150 per bowler,
this includes; 3 strings of bowling, shoe rental and
transportation to MTP.
We will also start up our table tennis/ping pong
activity after the Christmas break. Sign ups will
take place in the coming weeks. We will play on Tuesdays
(3:15-4:30) for those staying late at school or those
who would like to play or learn the game.
Spring Intramural/Club Lacrosse for Boys.
Mr. Swanson has once again offered to coach/teach a
boy's lacrosse team this coming spring. The team would
practice/play on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays (game
day) from late March thru May. Experience is not
required, however, necessary equipment will be. If your
son is interested please have him sign up with Mr B at
lunch in the coming weeks. We need this response for
game scheduling purposes if we are going to have a team.
Please email or call Mr B with any questions or
concerns.

Announces
December
Newsletter
Dear Parents and
Students,
It is hard to
believe but we are
almost at the end of
2008. The month of
December always
seems to fly by and
upon our return in
2009, the end of the
second marking
period will be over
within two weeks! So
we urge our
students, with
parent encouragement
and support, to
continue to put in
the great effort and
hard work that are
character traits of
Nashua Catholic
students. We want to
find all our
students at the end
the first half of
the year in good
academic standing.
Parents are reminded
that December 5 and
December 23 are
Early Release Days
for our students -
Dec. 5 is a
professional
development day for
our teachers and, of
course , Dec. 23
marks the beginning
of our Christmas
Break. Again,
students are
expected to be out
of the building by
11:30 on both of
those days.
FYI RE Tuition
Payments:
Those parents who
have chosen to pay
twice a year - your
December payment is
due on the first -
remember to deduct
your tuition deposit
of $200 per student.

As part of this

school year. It will
list your total
balance due for the
year along with
instructions on how
to make your full

An Important
Notice from Mrs.
McFadden re:
Cap & Gowns:
Dear Parents,
The holidays are
shortly approaching,
and I sit at my desk
hopefully
anticipating the
birth of our savior
and the meaning of
this season. My
thoughts also turn
to graduation for
this upcoming June.
Yes, it's time to
get started on this
yearly endeavor!
Students will be
wearing graduation
gowns for the
graduation ceremony.
Girls will be in
white gowns; boys
will be in royal
blue gowns. These
"souvenir" gowns are
designed for one
time use, with no
need to collect and
return to the
school. These gowns
will be provided to
you at no cost.
I need you to
measure your student
for his or her gown.
Gown sizing is based
on total height to
the top of the head.
Please measure your
child from head to
heel. Allow for any
growth between now
and June, and pick a
size from the order
form (order form can
be downloaded from
our school website
under
"Announcements".)
Ladies, you may want
to consider shoe
heel height in your
final calculation.
Please mark the
return form legibly
and fill out all the
required
information. If you
have any questions
regarding
measuring/sizing,
you can get
information from the
company website:
http://www.robeshop.com/graduation.htm
Look for
measuring/sizing
information.
Please return the
order form by
Friday, December 19,
2008.
Thanks for your
cooperation, and
have a blessed
holiday season!
Peace and Blessings,
Mrs. Glenda
McFadden, SFO
News fromn the
History Department:
The History Dept
will hold its annual
Geography Bee on
Thursday, 12/18 and
Friday, 12/19/08,
for all students in
the 7th and 8th
grade. This is a
different type of
learning experience,
and one in which
there is some
competition amongst
the grades. The
school winner will
then take a written
exam after vacation,
in hopes of being
accepted into the
state bee, which
will be held at
Keene State College
in the spring.
The History Dept.
also announces, with
great pleasure, that
it will host two
student teachers for
the spring semester.
Meghan Merritt, from
Rivier College, will
be student teaching
beginning on January
5th and ending as we
begin our April
vacation. Meghan has
observed and taught
classes at
Pennichuck Middle
School, as well as
at Haverhill(Mass)
High School. In
addition, she has
tutored at the Boys
and Girls Club of
Nashua. In addition,
we will have a
student teacher from
March through May,
Todd Therrien, who
is completing his
Masters in HIstory
through Franklin
Pierce University,
and who is currently
on the Nashua police
force.
I hope you will join
me in welcoming
these two bright and
eager teachers to
Nashua Catholic.
